RNCM Festival of Brass 2013 Performances

Three of my works for brass were performed at this year’s Royal Northern College of Music (RNCM) Festival of Brass. It’s always one of my favourite weekends of the year, and the 2013 festival didn’t disappoint!

Fodens, conducted by Mike Fowles, gave a brilliant performance of Fire in the Sky (concert review here), and the brilliant Exit_Brass! – a talented, not to mention funny, brass quartet from Belgium gave a performance of the middle movement of my brass quartet, Manchester Sketches. But perhaps my highlight was Michael Bach and Leyland‘s performance (review here) of my 2nd Epitaph – Across the Water. It really was a very moving performance – one that will stay with me for a long time.

Thanks, as always, to Paul Hindmarsh who once again organised a balanced festival, full of interesting, substantial music – looking forward to the 2014 already!
